My story
We don’t choose to have hypertension, diabetes, or a heart attack. I certainly didn’t. Yet my own heart health issue lead me here.6 years ago I had what I thought was an abdominal pain the week before my 8th half-marathon. The ER doctor, however, told me I had a heart attack. Those words felt like a whack to the head. Clearly, fitness does not equal health.
I was told that I would be on medication for the rest of my life, and no guarantee that I will continue to run. I asked why this happened even though I was very fit? There were no answers except “well, you are just getting old”. I had just turned 50.
Then I found Anti-Aging Medicine and Functional Medicine
My own research lead me to anti-aging and functional medicine at the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), where practitioners are taught to dig deep for the root cause. This resonated with me and I dove in and started taking all the courses available.
A year later, I was off my medication, and I started pole walking. 3 years later, I started jogging. By December 2019, my stress test came back with no abnormalities. Even my cardiologist asked what I’ve been doing for myself.
Now I want to share with you my knowledge from studying and personal experiences, so you too can gain control of your own biology and live with vitality.
